Testimonials / Re: The Birth of Royal Rangers Redemption
« Last post by MrMiYoda on August 13, 2023, 01:49:54 PM »
My unique experience at the STXRR EDGE weekend...

I was set up for Redemption demos in one of the rooms that was situated in the middle of their classroom sessions.

Below, Cmdr Royce A teaches Cmdr Chris M (commander of our RR Eaten by Worms Gang) the new Israel's Deliverance (KL) starters

A couple of Hispanic Royal Rangers Districts are on fire with the game for the first time. One day this District will attempt to translate at least KL SA's into Spanish by sticking labels onto the starter set, just so there's some semblance of a Spanish version to teach the game and play the translated cards unofficially.

I'm booked for some kind of RR Hispanic National Camp on the 1st weekend in November...similar to PowWow. Their No. 1 guy just bought 2 KLs today and will finalize me being at their camp event.  Free lodging, free food, all blessings for the demo team.

Did my annual 'Redemption' speech at the annual South TX EDGE Leadership Conference!!! God is good.
Here's the script:
"Blessings Commanders and guests!
We just celebrated this year the 5th Anniversary of the Redemption card game at the South Texas Royal Rangers PowWow2023. This year we also celebrate the latest starter decks called Israel's Deliverance which are available at our Redemption HQ at Room 206.
For those who are new to the game, Redemption is a Bible-based trading card game where Heroes go into battle to rescue Lost Souls. It's a game of epic earthly and spiritual warfare.
One of our beloved Royal Ranger commanders from Houston, Royce Anagnostou, has invented a unique format for the game that would spend only 10-15 minutes of play and could easily be inserted into weekly Royal Ranger outpost meetings as an ultimate ice-breaker. Expect Commander Royce to create the latest deck versions that will be used at next year's PowWow and beyond.
Please do not leave this EDGE event without acquiring some starter decks for your outpost, and get some as well for your upcoming Christmas stocking stuffers. I and my team are also ready to visit your outposts to teach this exciting game.
On behalf of all commanders and outposts who have since 2018 embraced Redemption as an RR activity, on behalf of Commander Chad Hutson who so lovingly has been featuring Redemption as an official PowWow activity, and on behalf of our beloved Commander Ken Porter who God has ordained as precursor to the birth of Royal Rangers Redemption in South Central and beyond --- I prayerfully urge all Royal Rangers to seriously consider making the game part of their regular activities and ministry, perhaps also as an amazing tool for Royal Rangers to be in symbiosis with their church youth groups."

Thank you Cmdrs Jeff and Lori Stokes for inspiring me to keep on teaching the game to Royal Rangers.  Finally, thank you so much to our beloved District Director Commander Jason Bone for his undying support for Redemption and for embracing the game himself.
And get that unique official family gaming patch on your Royal Rangers shirt by playing Redemption!
See y'all at Room 206!
Thank you all, and Godbless!"

It appears the post was updated Monday morning (after bidding closed) so I'm guessing the listed bids are the winning bids.

What were the winning bids for each card?

It would be nice to see him! Perhaps he will make it to Nats ?
It would've been great to see you too Rob!  I didn't make it to Nats this year, but perhaps I'll be able to in 2026.  Currently I have to drive my kid to North Dakota for college around the same time, and can't make back-to-back trips that far.

The AR State tournament was awesome!  Having Roy and Terry there was just a special treat, and I really appreciate them making the drive to join us.  Jamie did a great job hosting.  The venue was perfect, thanks to my friend Stephen.  And we had some top tier judging with the extra addition of Redemption Elder, Joe, who I just met and appreciated some of his outside-the-box thinking on the future of Redemption.

There were about a dozen players and we covered 5 different categories during the tournament.

T1-2p (Classic)
I played in this one with 3 others.  We went 3 rounds, so everyone played everyone.  I ended up winning this one in a close game over Joshua, who I remember had really strong defense.

Sealed Deck
There were I think 6 players in this event.  I think Joe won, and I remember hearing that 2nd place was a young kid who was playing Sealed for the first time.  So that's fun.

T1-TEAMS
I wasn't here for this event, and can't comment on what happened.

Booster Deck
I wasn't here for this event, and can't comment on what happened.

T1-2p (Rotation)
We had 8 players in this event, and we went three rounds.  I won my first two games and ended up going against Joshua again in the championship.  This time his defense was extremely strong again, and we ended with a timeout, which he was winning.  It was a great event, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

Lots of people opened prize packs and discovered amazing cards.  And the overall tournament was just a big boost for excitement about Redemption in general here in Arkansas.  The plan is to start having regular playtimes and more regular tournaments throughout this coming year.

"Same icon" is looking at the card icon, and Cities have the Site icon, so the Site and City would exclude each other. So you can't have them in the same deck.

Ruling Questions / Two Versions of Damascus/Jerusalem Legal in Same Deck?
« Last post by Sean on August 08, 2023, 04:01:33 PM »
Subject says it all. There are 2 versions of Jerusalem and Damascus in rotation. One is a Site and the other is a City. Does this count as having the same icon? Below from REG with relative part in bold. I'm assuming this is same icon but just making sure.

Quote
Other rules:  • The total number of Sites and Cities may not exceed the number of Lost Souls in a deck. • The number of Dominants (good and evil combined) may not exceed the number of Lost Souls in a deck. (The “Hopper” Lost Soul does not count towards Lost Soul deck building requirements.) • The max size for a T1 deck is 154. • Cards with special abilities that have the same name and same card art are limited to a maximum of 1 each per 50 cards in a deck. • Cards (except generic characters and Lost Souls) with special abilities that have the same name and same card icon are limited to a maximum of 1 each per 50 cards in a deck. • Cards (except generic characters) with special abilities that are listed as duplicate cards and have the same card icon are limited to a maximum of 1 each per 50 cards in a deck. • Generic characters with special abilities that have the same name and card art are limited to a maximum of 1 each per 50 cards in a deck. If the card art is different, you may select a maximum of 1 each per 50 cards in a deck from each variant.

Nationals is over which means it is time for yours truly to share some of the deck builds I kept secret for the benefit of my play group members using them at Nationals. I have three deck builds I will be sharing with you all over the coming weeks which represent many hours of deck building labor. I built all three of these decks for my play group members and they ran them at Nationals. The first deck build is featured in an article entitled "CtheTree's Take On: Black Widow". Check it out here on Land of Redemption: http://landofredemption.com/?p=12567

National Tournament Winners / Re: 2023 Nationals Type 1-2P 1st Place

Welcome back to the game and congrats to your win at Nationals! Thank you for the write-up. Did the Lost Souls provide you enough value or would effects like Forsaken have helped more? Also payed Thorns and Orphans payed off?
